Dragons to Recognize Academic All-Star Riley Barhorst on July 28

DAYTON, Ohio -- The Dayton Dragons Academic All-Star program presented by Edison State Community College will recognize Riley Barhorst as an Academic All-Star during pregame festivities of the Dragons game on Sunday, July 28 when the Dragons battle the Fort Wayne TinCaps at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 pm.

Prior to Sunday’s game, Barhorst will be honored on the field and presented with a $1,000 scholarship from the Dayton Dragons Foundation.

Barhorst plans to continue her education at Edison State by finishing her associate’s degree. She then plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration. Barhorst dreams of running a hospital’s radiology department.

Due to her flexible class schedule, Barhorst said her time at Edison State has granted her countless opportunities. Barhorst is thankful to have saved her hard-earned money from a part-time job while also getting a step ahead of her peers through credits obtained with the College Credit Plus Program.

The Dragons will recognize five Academic All-Stars in 2024. Each All-Star is a College Credit Plus Student at Edison State Community College. College Credit Plus (CCP) offers a unique opportunity for students still in high school to enhance and further their educational and career objectives. CCP students can earn college and high school credit concurrently, accelerating their college careers at no cost.
