DAYTON, Ohio -- The Dayton Dragons will recognize the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Dayton as a Community All-Stars recipient during a special inning break of the Dragons game on Tuesday, July 2 against the Lake County Captains at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. The game will start at 7:05 p.m.

Established with four students in 1999, the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Dayton was initially called Learning Centers for Children. Early on, it became clear there was a greater local need for dyslexia care. Today, the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Dayton is part of a network of 40 centers across 13 states under the direction of Children’s Dyslexia Centers, Inc.

Located in historic Grafton Hill, the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Dayton serves more than 25 students per semester from nine counties across the Miami Valley. Students come from various backgrounds and range from 6 to 18-years of age. Due to limited capacity, each student is put through an intensive program with thoroughly trained tutors and experts in reading development. Students are given tools to continue their reading development even after departing the program. One a student leaves, their spot becomes open to another child in need.

Alongside serving students, the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Dayton additionally trains teachers, educators, speech therapists, and adults looking to become certified tutors. After training, new tutors are sent to their own programs to help the greater need. Children’s Dyslexia Center of Dayton continually looks to grow its tutor roster. Tutoring and tutor training at the center is currently being offered tuition-free.

For their commitment to providing extensive reading resources and tutoring to dyslexic students across the Miami Valley, the Dayton Dragons are proud to honor the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Dayton as a Dragons Community All-Star.
