Drew Pomeranz to rehab with Portland on Friday
Portland, Maine - The Boston Red Sox have announced that left-hander Drew Pomeranz will continue his Major League Rehab Assignment on Friday night with the Portland Sea Dogs. Portland opens up their 25th season at Hadlock Field on Friday against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets affiliate).

Pomeranz is currently on Boston's 10-day disabled list with a strained flexor in his left forearm. On Sunday, the lefty made his first appearance of the season with Triple-A Pawtucket, working 4.1 innings (ND) on two hits, two runs, six walks, one strikeout and one home run allowed.
The lefty becomes the 48th player to make a Major League Rehab Assignment with Portland.
The Red Sox acquired Pomeranz from the San Diego Padres in exchange for minor league Anderson Espinoza on July 14, 2016. Last year he went 17-6 with a 3.32 ERA (64 ER/173.2 IP) in 32 starts during his first full season with Boston. Pomeranz set career highs in starts, wins, and innings pitched.
