Drive Fall 2-1 to RiverDogs in Series Finale

Charleston, SC - Runs were hard to come by in Sunday's series finale between the Greenville Drive and Charleston RiverDogs, but the RiverDogs did just enough offensively to defeat the Drive 2-1.
Both starting pitchers put forth strong efforts on Sunday. Adonis Rosa (4-3) got the win for the RiverDogs (27-15, 61-51) after allowing just an unearned run over six and one-third innings, and he outdueled Darwinzon Hernandez (3-4), who gave up one earned run in five innings with five strikeouts.
Isiah Gilliam put the RiverDogs on top in the bottom of the first with a solo homer to left-center field, his 13^th of the season.
The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth, when a pair of singles and a Drive (20-22, 61-50) error plated the second run for Charleston.
The Drive got on the board in the seventh. Tyler Hill singled to begin the inning, and he advanced to second on a walk by Jerry Downs. After Brett Netzer entered as a pinch runner, he and Hill then pulled off a double steal, and Hill came in to score when the throw ended up in left field. The steal was Hill's 34^th of the year, which extended his South Atlantic League lead in that category.

Santiago Espinal went 3-4 at the plate to lead the Greenville offense, and Algenis Martinez threw three scoreless innings of relief.
Phillip Diehl recorded his second save for Charleston by recording the final two outs.
The Drive's road trip continues on Monday night as they begin a three-game series against the Kannapolis Intimidators, an affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. First pitch in the opener in Kannapolis is at 7:05. Left-hander Jay Groome (2-4, 7.90) takes the mound for the Drive on Monday, and the Intimidators will counter with left-hander Andre Davis (6-4, 4.52).
