AKRON- Scoring three unearned runs in the fifth inning, the Akron RubberDucks went on to a 3-2 win over the Hartford Yard Goats Thursday night at rain-and-windswept Canal Park. Akron completed a three-game series sweep and dropped Hartford (36-28) to 1 1/2 games behind first place Trenton in the division with four games to play in the first half playoff race.
After the Yard Goats took their first lead of the series in the fifth inning on a run-scoring single by
Hartford, which did not score a run off the Akron bullpen in the series, managed to slice the advantage to one against starter
Morgan improved to 5-0, going six innings and allowing two runs on five hits. He walked two and struck out a season-high nine. Robinson retired four of the five batters he faced to nail down his first save.
Culbreth (3-7) pitched five innings and allowed three unearned runs on four hits. He did not walk anybody and struck out one.
