Summary
The Akron RubberDucks continued to struggle at the plate Thursday night at Canal Park, falling 7-2 to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies behind Jason Krizan's four-hit night.
Turning Point
After a scoreless first, Binghamton jumped out in the lead first with a three-run second inning that was kickstarted by David Thompson's leadoff home run. The Rumble Ponies followed with two singles and a walk to bring home two more, and never looked back as their pitching staff held the RubberDucks to just two runs.
Mound Presence
Adam Scott got the start for the RubberDucks and opened the game with a one-two-three first. The second inning started in a different manner, as David Thompson got the game's first run on the board with a leadoff homer off Scott, and the Rumble Ponies would add two more in the inning. The middle and bottom of the Binghamton lineup would again give Scott trouble in the fourth as they hit a pair of singles and a double for two runs. Scott again set the Ponies down in order in the fifth, but was chased in the sixth after giving up a solo home run to Jason Krizan. In a rehab appearance, Dan Otero pitched a scoreless seventh, allowing a single. Dalbert Siri came in from the bullpen next and allowed a run in the eighth, as Jason Krizan had his fourth hit of the night, this time an RBI double. Siri finished the ninth, ending it with the game's only strikeout from Akron pitchers.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks went silently through the first two innings before getting on the board in the third. Logan Ice led off the inning with a single and moved up to third after an error on a ground ball off the bat of Ernie Clement ; he was plated on a Trenton Brooks ground out. Despite putting men on base in three of the next four innings, Akron wouldn't get back on the scoreboard again until the eighth with another RBI groundout. Connor Marabell brought home Nolan Jones , after Jones walked and Trenton Brooks doubled. Alex Call led off the ninth with a single, but Akron went in order after that.
