Dust Devils Announce Participation in
MiLB Copa de la Diversion
In conjunction with Minor League Baseball, the Tri-City Dust Devils and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce are excited to announce participation in the second annual Copa de la Diversión® (Fun Cup™). The 2019 season will see 72 teams transform their brands to join in Copa's mission to authentically connect MiLB teams with their diverse communities, and embrace and celebrate the culture and values that resonate most with Latino fans nationwide.
To distinctively launch this new initiative and visually celebrate the diversity that defines MiLB communities nationwide, MiLB and each of the participating teams created culturally-related on-field personas that honor their respective Latino communities that are building, shaping and leading MiLB markets today. All "Copa" teams will adopt these new personas via on-field jerseys and caps during designated "Copa de la Diversión" games during the 2019 season.
Located within the heart of Washington wine country, the Dust Devils aimed to honor and welcome the hard-working migrant agricultural workers for their profound impact on the region's wine industry through its "Viñeros" moniker.
"We are extremely excited for this transformation and for the opportunity to honor the Hispanic community in such a fun and unique way," said Derrel Ebert, Dust Devils Vice President - General Manager. "Thank you to the Hispanic Chamber and Visit Tri-Cities for their support in bringing the Viñeros to life!"
For three home games at Gesa Stadium, the Dust Devils will transform into the Viñeros de Tri-City, complete with new uniforms, music, food and entertainment! The Tri-City Dust Devils worked closely with the Hispanic Chamber as well as a Copa advisory board comprised of local Hispanic community leaders to build an identity that honors the local Hispanic community.
"Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is proud to be a part of this exciting opportunity to engage our diverse community with our local minor league baseball team. It's especially important since Tri-Cities is home to many Hispanic families who enjoy baseball and now they have the opportunity to have baseball with a cultural vibe," said Nikki Torres, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President.
June 20th, July 18th, and August 22nd will be Viñeros nights at Gesa Stadium! To learn more about the Viñeros de Tri-City and Copa de la Diversión®, Click Here
