The Tri-City Dust Devils (31-47) fell 4-1 in the series finale on Sunday afternoon to the Hillsboro Hops at Ron Tonkin Field. Newcomer Kenyon Yovan hit the first home run of his professional career in the top of the ninth inning for the team’s lone run of the game.
Robinson Pina had a strong outing despite suffering the loss for the Dust Devils. Pina allowed only one run and two hits with nine strikeouts in six innings of work. Tri-City trailed the Hops by only one run until the bottom of the seventh inning before the deficit grew. Hillsboro scored three runs off reliever Zach Linginfelter in the bottom of the seventh inning, building a lead that proved to be insurmountable for the Dust Devils.
After the off day on Monday the road trip will continue for Tri-City in Eugene. The Dust Devils will begin the six-game series against the Emeralds at PK Park on Tuesday with first pitch set for 7:05 pm.
