JACKSON, TENN. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, fell behind early on Monday evening and struggled to claw their way back, eventually falling 11-6 to Pensacola.

The Generals (41-33, 2-3 Second Half) lost their third consecutive game, suffering a three-contest skid for the first time since June 1-3. The victory by Pensacola (32-40, 3-2 Second Half) guaranteed at least a split of this six-game series, with the finale looming at 12:05 pm CT on Tuesday.
Generals starter Ryan Atkinson (3-7, 4.59 ERA), second on the Generals in strikeouts, did not record a punchout against the Blue Wahoos, failing to get out of the third inning. Atkinson allowed seven runs to score over the first two frames, all crossing home with two outs. He finished with a pair of walks, seven hits, and nine total runs (seven earned) ceded to Pensacola in his shortest outing of 2018. Bud Jeter allowed one run in two innings of work, giving up Pensacola's tenth run (and eighth with two outs) on an RBI single in the fourth inning. The Wahoos scored their final tally (and ninth with two outs) off Kirby Bellow in the ninth.
Keury Mella (7-3, 3.20 ERA) allowed three runs to the Generals in the third inning on a run-scoring groundout from Rudy Flores and a two-run single by Josh Prince, but Mella remained largely untouched otherwise. He dealt six innings with five strikeouts and five hits allowed. Jackson made things interesting with three runs scored against Jesús Reyes in the seventh, but the comeback fell short. Prince finished with his third three-hit game as a General, walking twice. Flores finished 0-for-4 with two runs driven in, using a bases-loaded walk to help create production.
