Early Runs Lead To M-Braves Blitz Of Biloxi

The Mississippi Braves (32-42, 3-2 2nd Half) scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings as they topped the Biloxi Shuckers (36-36, 2-3 2nd Half) 18-4 on Saturday night. The 18 runs are the most runs allowed in a game in Shuckers’ history.

Mississippi converted three singles in the first inning into three runs to take a 3-0 lead heading to the bottom of the first. The M-Braves would strike for four more in second, five in the third and three in the fourth on 14 hits, just three of them for extra bases.

Biloxi got on the board in the bottom of the third as Cam Devanney led off with a double to center and scored on an RBI single by Noah Campbell.

In the home half of the fifth, Felix Valerio singled off RHP Tanner Gordon (W, 5-4) and scored on a two-run blast to left by Devanney, his tenth home run of the year, making it 15-3. Biloxi would score another run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run by Andruw Monasterio, his third home run with the Shuckers in five games. Mississippi responded with three more in the top of the eighth to set the final line of 18-4.

Seeking a series split, the Shuckers conclude their six-game tilt with the Mississippi Braves on Sunday at MGM Park.
