Edwards 2-for-3 with an RBI in Threshers Debut, Clearwater Falls to Bradenton 7-3 Friday Night

The Threshers (38-38) took an early lead in the second inning. Wilfredo Flores doubled on a fly ball into left field but was injured on the play. Kervin Pichardo came in to pinch run for the lefty. Pichardo later scored on a throwing error for a 1-0 lead. Clearwater added another in the third inning after Casey Martin was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and proceeded to steal second base. Aparicio singled Martin home with a line drive into left field for a 2-0 advantage.
Bradenton (47-32) put up three runs in the top of the fourth inning off a wild pitch and a fielding error to edge past the Threshers 3-2. The Marauders walked in a run in the fifth to advance to 4-2.
Kervin Pichardo got a run back for the Threshers in the sixth. Pichardo walked to lead off the inning and, two batters later, he stole second. He later scored on a Mitchell Edwards single to bring the game within one run at 4-3.
The Marauders tacked on one insurance run in the top of the eighth inning from a double and a wild pitch and sealed the deal in the ninth. Recently traded Abrahan Gutierrez drove in a two-run double against his former team and Bradenton won 7-3.
The Threshers’ starter Eduar Segovia did not factor in the decision but tossed 3.2 innings of no-hit ball. He was tagged for one run, allowed two walks, and struck out six batters.
The Threshers and Marauders continue their series at BayCare Ballpark Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. with gates open at 3:30 p.m. Stay after the second game for a brilliant fireworks display presented by Coors Light. TICKETS
