MOBILE, Ala. (May 27, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, erased an early two-run deficit but fell to the Birmingham Barons 6-3 Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
After Birmingham (16-32) plated runs in the third and fourth, Zach Gibbons responded with his first Double-A home run to cut the lead in half. Two innings later, Gibbons scored the tying run for the BayBears (22-27) on Forrestt Allday 's RBI groundout.
However, Ronald Bueno hit a two-run homer off Conor Lillis-White (0-1) to break the 2-2 tie in the eighth inning. Cameron Seitzer added insurance with another two-run shot later in the frame.
Zach Welz came through with a two-out RBI single in the ninth, but Alberto Triunfel struck out with runners on the corners to end the game.
Osmer Morales recorded his first quality start of the season but did not factor in the decision. He tossed a season-high six innings and allowed two runs on six hits. Spencer Adams (3-6) pitched a season-high eight innings and gave up two runs on five hits while striking out six.
Allday went 0-for-3 but walked in his final plate appearance, extending his on-base streak to 30 games. It is the longest active streak in the Southern League.
