Ni las altas temperaturas, ni las inclemencias del tiempo, fueron obstáculo para que el cuerpo técnico de El Águila de Veracruz sacara lo mejor sus jugadores. Tras 28 días de pretemporada, el equipo está listo para los juegos ante Olmecas de Tabasco y, también, para el torneo ‘Batalla de Leyendas’.
El mánager Leo Rodríguez ha estado arropado por exjugadores y profesionales del deporte, quienes de forma individual y en equipo, han llevado a un nivel máximo a todos los jugadores.
Carlos Chávez y Héctor Navarro, coaches de pitcheo, y Luis Fernando Vázquez, coach de bullpen, han trabajado intensamente con los lanzadores en largas sesiones de bullpen y Live BP (juego simulado), así como en juegos interescuadras para ganarse un lugar en la rotación y en el equipo.
Debido a las modificaciones en el terreno de juego del parque Beto Ávila, como el reducido tamaño backstop (pared detrás del cátcher), el coach de receptores y de primera base, Plácido Pinto, ha trabajado enérgicamente con los hombres detrás del plato. Pinto se ha enfocado en el aspecto físico, pero también en el catcher framing (enmarcado de la zona de strike).
Marco Antonio Romero, coach de bateo, ha llevado a los bateadores de menos a más. Al trabajar su mecánica de bateo y selección de pitcheos, los está preparando para una plaza donde los bateadores tienen el viento en contra.
Otro de los hombres importantes en el Cuerpo Técnico es Reinaldo Batista, coach de infielders, quien con más de 30 años de experiencia en el beisbol, es el encargado de trabajar con el cuadro de El Águila (un lugar muy peleado y con un alto nivel).
Por su parte, Rubén Estrada, coach de tercera, también trabaja con los jardineros, quienes se adaptan a las nuevas condiciones del terreno del Beto Ávila, así como a sus bardas. El coach veracruzano, Arturo Amador, con amplia experiencia trabajando con prospectos, está con los novatos del equipo.
José Ramón Iturbide, Jesús Valenzuela, Gabriel Acevedo, Luis Ángel Villegas y Jesús Lara son los batboys: hombres “todo terreno” que han sido factor importante para tener todo listo y en condiciones.
Mención especial para las preparadoras físicas, Cristina Medina y Karime Flores, quienes desde el día uno de la pretemporada, pusieron en ritmo físico al equipo, el cual jugará en un clima extremo (Zona Sur) y donde el desgaste físico será constante.
Luego de 28 días de pretemporada, Paola Lizárraga y Pablo Morales han realizado un trabajo impecable al ayudar a la recuperación física de los peloteros. Ellos, junto al doctor Arturo Saldaña, Jefe de los Servicios Médicos del equipo, supervisan la salud de los jugadores.
Yessica Osuna, la enlace COVID-19 de El Águila de Veracruz, vigila que se cumplan todos los protocolos del ‘Plan Diamante’ de la Liga Mexicana de Beisbol, tanto dentro como fuera del terreno de juego. Tras cinco semanas de pruebas COVID, el equipo no ha reportado casos positivos.
