Lo que se presagiaba como un duelo de zurdos entre el cubano Raúl Valdés por la nave saltillense y Francisley Bueno por Durango cumplió con el pronóstico pues ambos inicialistas colgaron ceros en las primeras entradas, inclusive el abridor de Saltillo sumó la tercera argolla en el tercer episodio, para motivar a sus compañeros a abrir el marcador en la baja de ese inning.
Ya con dos outs, Luis Fonseca tocó de sorpresa por el lado contrario al lanzador, Alex Valdez lo llevó a la segunda y anotó con doblete de Diory Hernández.
En la cuarta, a pesar de que Humberto Castro le rompió el sin hit a Raúl Valdés con doble, el isleño metió el brazo para dominar a Dustin Geiger con rola dentro del cuadro, ponchó a Jorge "Chato" Vázquez y dominó a Jon del Campo con rola suave a segunda base.
