CLINTON, IA (April 20, 2019) - The Clinton LumberKings completed their sweep of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers with a 3-2 win on Saturday night - their seventh win over their last eight games.
Clinton wasted no time in scoring the game's first run off Wisconsin (6-9) starter Scotty Sunitsch. Encarnacion homered to right center with two out in the bottom of the first giving Clinton a lead they would not relinquish.
Encarnacion's home run was his fifth of the season and was part of a 1-for-3 night at the plate that also included a walk -extending his hitting streak to 10 games and his streak of reaching base safely to 15 games.
The LumberKings added on in the second against Sunitsch (1-3).
Wisconsin scored their first run of the night in the top in the fourth. LumberKings starter
Rodriguez (1-0) picked up the win for Clinton for his five innings of work. He allowed an unearned run to score in the fifth but no more - ending his night allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits while walking none and striking out two.
Thomas Jones added the final run for Clinton in the bottom of the fourth. His first home run of the year cleared the berm in left and proved to be the difference in the LumberKings third straight one-run win.
Clinton's four straight wins is their longest winning streak of the season thus far.
