The SeaWolves ended a two-game skid with a clutch eighth inning to beat Binghamton 5-2.

Lael Lockhart and Tyler Stuart competed in a pitcher’s duel. Erie scored first in the second. After singles by Chris Meyers and Danny Serretti, Diego Rincones notched a sacrifice fly to open the scoring.

Lockhart began his outing with three hitless innings. In the fourth, with two on and two out, Branden Fryman drove a two-run double to give Binghamton a 2-1 lead.

The SeaWolves tied the game when Justice Bigbie drove an opposite-field home run in the sixth inning against Stuart.

After Stuart went the first seven frames, Erie went to work against the Rumble Ponies bullpen. Junior Santos came on for the eighth inning. Trei Cruz walked, Bigbie singled for his third hit, and Wenceel Perez poked a broken-bat go-ahead single. Chris Meyers then drove a two-run double for his fourth hit of the game, giving Erie a 5-2 lead.

Tim Naughton (2-1) tossed two scoreless innings to earn the win. Santos (3-8) took the loss. Andrew Magno tossed a hitless ninth inning to earn his sixth save.

The series continues on Saturday at 6:07 p.m. with Keider Montero opposing David Griffin.
