Erie's Offense Unable to Back Madden in UPMC Park Debut

Erie opened the scoring in the first. Daniel Cabrera greeted Tanner Bibee with a double to left. Andrew Navigato moved Cabrera to third with a single. Parker Meadows lifted a sacrifice fly to bring in Cabrera and give Erie a 1-0 lead.
Ty Madden was brilliant in his SeaWolves debut and received the no-decision. He only allowed just two runners in scoring position. Madden hurled six shutout innings, scattering two hits and one walk while striking out six.
Akron tacked on a pair of runs in the seventh. Nick Kuzia issued a walk to Jhonkensy Noel to open the frame. Two batters later, Daniel Schneeman brought Noel to third with a double. Julian Escobedo poked a two-run triple down the right field line to put the ‘Ducks ahead, 2-1.
Cade Smith picked up his fourth save of the season. He tossed 1.1 perfect innings and struck out two batters.
Bibee (2-1) earned the win. He threw six innings of one-run ball, yielding four hits and two walks while striking out four. Erie threatened
Kuzia (4-4) was tagged with the loss. He gave up two runs on two hits in an inning of work, walking one, and striking out none.
