Erie Secures Third Shutout Win in Four Games

Erie won a fourth straight game out of the All-Star break by shutting out Binghamton in the series opener, 3-0. Andrew Navigato opened the scoring in the first inning. After Justice Bigbie and Wenceel Perez hit consecutive singles, Navigato scored Bigbie with a double against Rumble Ponies starter Christian Scott.

Erie won a fourth straight game out of the All-Star break by shutting out Binghamton in the series opener, 3-0.

Andrew Navigato opened the scoring in the first inning. After Justice Bigbie and Wenceel Perez hit consecutive singles, Navigato scored Bigbie with a double against Rumble Ponies starter Christian Scott.

Erie tacked on another run in the fifth inning when Perez plated Bigbie with an RBI triple that Agustin Ruiz misplayed in right field.

Ty Madden was strong on the mound for the SeaWolves. He threw 90 pitches over his 4.2 innings, allowing two hits and two walks. Madden struck out eight including six through the first three frames.

Navigato scored an insurance run in the eighth inning as he split the right-center gap with his second RBI double of the game.

Austin Bergner, Angel De Jesus, and Tyler Mattison combined for 4.1 innings of scoreless relief. Bergner (3-0) earned the win. Scott (3-3) took the loss for Binghamton. Mattison earned his second save with two hitless innings to finish off Erie’s third shutout win in four games since the All-Star break.

Erie and Binghamton continue the series on Wednesday at 1:05 p.m. Brant Hurter pitches for Erie against right-hander Jose Chacin.
