The SeaWolves were shut out for the second time in the series in a 3-0 loss to Bowie.

Bowie got off to an instant lead in the first inning against Lael Lockhart. Dylan Beavers opened the game with a hustle double. Jackson Holliday followed with a double of his own to make it a 1-0 Bowie lead.

They got a second run against Lockhart in the fourth inning with two out and Jud Fabian on first base. Fabian broke towards second and Lockhart picked him off, but Jake Holton’s throw to second was wild and Fabian scored on the throwing error.

In the sixth, Lockhart hit Beavers with a pitch to begin the frame. After Beavers stole second, Max Wagner lined an RBI single off the wall in left which scored Beavers. Wagner was thrown out at second base by Daniel Cabrera.

The SeaWolves mustered just three hits against four Bowie pitchers. Trace Bright tossed four scoreless innings in his Double-A debut. Cabrera led off the fifth with his second single. After that single, Houston Roth, Kade Strowd, and Nolan Hoffman combined to retire 15 consecutive SeaWolves to end the game.

Lockhart allowed three runs, two of them earned, on three hits with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Roth (6-2) earned the win in relief. Lockhart (4-2) took the loss. Hoffman collected his sixth save.

Erie needs a win to split the series against Bowie. The series concludes at 1:35 p.m. as Ty Madden opposes Connor Gillispie in a rematch of Tuesday’s matchup.
