In the game, Somerset’s pitching staff struck out a new season-high 13 batters.
LHP Brock Selvidge (5.0 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K) was tagged with the loss, after pitching a season-high five innings and striking out a season-high six batters.
RHP Tanner Myatt (1.2 IP, H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K) ended the game with a scoreless outing.
In his third appearance of the season, Myatt extended his scoreless streak to 5.0 IP to start the season, in which he has struck out eight batters and allowed only two hits with no walks (0.60 WHIP).
3B JC Escarra (3-for-4, RBI, 2B, K) made his first start at third base in affiliated baseball and brought home the Patriots’ only run with an RBI-double in the fourth inning.
Now 6-for-14 in four Double-A games to start the season, Escarra accomplished his first three-hit game in Minor League Baseball since 2019.
SS Ben Cowles (1-for-3, 2B, BB, K) reached base twice in the game, extending his Eastern League-leading on-base percentage to .512.
Now having reached base in all 10 Double-A games he has played, Cowles’ 14 hits and .412 AVG lead the Patriots.
