Evan McKendry Named International League Pitcher of the Week

Durham Bulls right-hander Evan McKendry has been named the International League's Player of the Week for the time period between May 9-14, becoming the second Bulls pitcher to earn a league weekly honor this season.
McKendry earned the victory on May 12 at Charlotte, firing seven scoreless innings while yielding just two hits and two runs, adding a season-high six strikeouts. The 25-year-old has not allowed a run in 11.2 innings pitched in the month of May, allowing just five hits and four walks while striking out ten.
Overall in eight appearances, including three starts, McKendry this season has accumulated a 4-0 record and 4.36 ERA (33.0 IP), adding 27 strikeouts. He has also held opponents to a .228 batting average while tallying a 1.27 WHIP. He was selected by Tampa Bay in the ninth round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of the University of Miami.
It is the first time the Florida native has received a league weekly award in his career. He also became the second Bulls hurler to earn International League Pitcher of the Week honors after right-hander Elvin Rodriguez for the time period between May 17-23.
Following their off day on Monday, the Bulls return to the DBAP on Tuesday, May 16 to start a six-game homestand versus the Nashville Sounds, the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
