Everett, WA: The Spokane Indians and Everett AquaSox met for the first time in the 2022 season as Spokane came into town with a roster headlined by top 100 prospect Zac Veen (ranked 35th). The Frogs jumped on the board early as catcher Charlie Welch and first baseman Dariel Gomez hit back-to-back homeruns to give Everett an early 2-0 lead. That was Welch's third game in a row in which he hit a homerun and Gomez's second homerun in his last three games but it was not enough as the AquaSox fell 14-6.
Starter Isaiah Campbell pitched just three innings allowing one earned run, a solo homerun to left fielder Robbie Martin Jr.
Leon Hunter came in to relieve Campbell and pitched three innings of shutout ball giving up just one walk and striking out three along the way. Hunter drops his ERA to 0.93.
Center fielder Spencer Packard gave the AquaSox their third run of the game in the bottom of the third as he hit into a double play allowing left fielder Myles Miller to trot home. Second baseman Axel Sanchez added on with a single in the bottom of the fourth scoring right fielder Trent Tinglestad giving Everett a 4-1 lead. Everett would snag it's fifth, and final, run of the game in the bottom of the fifth as Spokane's catcher had an errant throw on a pickoff attempt allowing Noelvi Marte a chance to score. Heading into the seventh inning, Everett led by a score of 5-1.
Spokane batted around in the top of the seventh inning scoring 9 runs to make it 10-5, they would add another four runs in the top of the eighth. Eight different Spokane players had at least one hit as both catcher Drew Romo and first baseman Grant Lavigne drove in three runs.
Everett had two hitters record multi-hit games as Marte and second baseman Axel Sanchez both had two apiece. Marte had a single and double while Sanchez had two singles.
Andy Thomas, who is normally a catcher, pitched a perfect 9th inning for Everett.
