Express Roll Past Missions in Series Finale

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Missions had to settle for a series split as they fell to the Round Rock Express 9-2 Friday night in front of a crowd of 7,336 at Wolff Stadium.
The Missions and Express traded runs in the first inning before Round Rock plated three runs in the top of the third to chase Zack Brown from the game. Brown was dealt his fifth loss of the season as the Missions' bats were unable to muster any more offense on the night while the Express went off for five more runs in the seventh inning.
In the seventh frame Drew Ferguson belted a two-run blast off Jacob Barnes and Chas McCormick smashed a three-run shot off the right-hander to blow the game open. Alex Wilson was one of the few bright spots for San Antonio as the right-hander retired eight of the nine batters he faced in 2 2/3 scoreless innings. The lone base runner Wilson allowed came on a fielder's choice and throwing error by Lucas Erceg.
San Antonio got one run back in a loud way as Trent Grisham unloaded on a 2-1 pitch and deposited it over the scoreboard in right field. Grisham also drove in the first run of the game on a ground out to the second baseman in the first inning that brought Mauricio Dubón around to score.
The Missions open up a five-game series with the Iowa Cubs Saturday night at Nelson Wolff Stadium. San Antonio has not announced its starter while the I-Cubs will turn to right-hander Colin Rea (8-2, 3.56) First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

-David Freitas moved his on-base streak to 21 games with a base hit in the first inning
-Grisham's eighth inning home run extended San Antonio's home-run streak to a season-long 12 games.
