The final homestand of the season September 20–25 marked “Fan Appreciation Week” at Polar Park as the Worcester Red Sox thanked their loyal fans for their season-long support. The week began Tuesday with “Lobsterfest,” when fans enjoyed fresh, deluxe, and authentic New England lobster rolls for the first time in Polar Park history. Tuesday also marked the team’s final game of the season as “Los Wepas de Worcester.”

On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, WooSox players met with fans in the Sherwood’s Diner on Summit Street for autographs and pictures. As part of “First Responder Wednesday,” presented by National Grid, the first 5,000 fans in attendance were given popular Smiley Ball Bobbleheads.

Thursday marked the final “WooU College Night” and “Greek Night.” College students enjoyed French Fries for just $2, hot dogs for $3, and burgers for $4 from the “Behind the Plate” concession stand. “Heritage Nights” will be a recurring theme at Polar Park in 2023.

Friday featured the last “UniBank Fireworks” show: a Hollywood finale with a plethora of music featuring movie themes and songs.

On Saturday, September 24, the WooSox debuted “On-Field Photo Day,” allowing fans to line the warning track with their cell phones as players walked around from 2–2:45 p.m. Following the game, fans participated in the final “Sunset Catch on the Field,” presented by Dunkin’.

At the season finale, presented by Bank of America, fans were invited onto the field before the game to collect autographs and pictures with players, who were seated at tables along the warning track. Following the game, players autographed soft baseballs and tossed them into the crowd, and lucky fans selected during the game returned to the field as the players gave “the shirts off their backs” in appreciation for the extraordinary 2022 season during which the WooSox’ attendance was among the top 5 across all 120 Minor League Baseball clubs.

Also on Sunday, the WooSox commemorated their new “Town Takeovers” program by presenting the winning town of Auburn with a coveted trophy and championship banner. Of the nearly 20 towns to participate, Auburn produced the highest turnout with 546 fans on “Auburn Night” on June 15.

The day came to a close as fans participated in the final “Run the Bases” presented by HP Hood and played catch on the outfield grass as part of the final “Fallon Health Family Funday Sunday” of the year.

“We make these gestures as a small symbol of gratitude to the fans who have supported us so loyally and so enthusiastically this season,” said Red Sox Hall of Famer Larry Lucchino, the Chairman and Principal Owner of the WooSox. “We also seek new ideas, suggestions, and areas for improvement as we plunge into planning for WooSox ’23. We want to make Polar Park and the fan experience even better.”
