For the fourth straight game, the opposition took the lead first. Manny Jefferson started the second inning with a line drive single to center. The next batter, David Sopilka doubled to right, scoring Jefferson, giving Kane County a 1-0 lead. The Cougars added to the lead in the fourth inning. Ramon Hernandez started the inning with a single and then came home to score on a two-out single by Connor Owings, extending the lead to 2-0.
Leonardo Rivas was hit by a pitch to open the bottom of the fourth inning. After Rivas stole second, Kane County pitcher Emilio Vargas was charged with a balk, moving Rivas to third. Jonah Todd dropped a double to left scoring Rivas, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
Kane County opened the lead up in the top of the fifth inning. With one out, Luis Silverio singled to left and then moved to second when Anfernee Grier walked. After a wild pitch moved both runners over, Ramon Hernandez reached on an error, scoring Silverio. Eudy Ramos and Yan Sanchez then hit back-to-back singles, extending the lead to 6-1.
Richie Fecteau brought the Bees back to within four runs with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. With one out in the seventh inning, Sam McDonnell and John Schuknecht recorded back-to-back singles. After a walk loaded the bases, Matt McCann singled in McDonnell to cut the deficit to 6-3. After a run scored on an error, Jonah Todd singled in a pair, tying the game at six. Richie Fecteau then blasted a three-run homer to left, giving the Bees a 9-6 lead.
The Bees used another big inning to open the game up in the eighth inning. The first four batters in the inning reached on two hit by pitches and a pair of walks, scoring a run. Richie Fecteau continued his big night, driving in two runs with a single. Julian Leon then capped off the inning with a three run homer to left, pushing the lead to 15-6.
Bees' reliever Zac Ryan (1-0) earned the win while Mitchell Aker (0-2) was charged with the loss. Ronnie Glenn (2) earned his second save of the season as the Bees snapped a three game losing streak.
The Bees and the Cougars will continue the series on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Community Field. It's a Huffman Farm & Home Sunday as kids will be able to run the bases after the game.
