Ferguson Named Texas League Player of the Week

CORPUS CHRISTI - The Texas League announced Tuesday that Hooks outfielder Drew Ferguson is Texas League Player of the Week for May 22-28. Ferguson is the first Hook to receive weekly honors during the 2017 campaign. 

CORPUS CHRISTI - The Texas League announced Tuesday that Hooks outfielder Drew Ferguson is Texas League Player of the Week for May 22-28. Ferguson is the first Hook to receive weekly honors during the 2017 campaign. 

Ferguson hit .435 with two homers, five RBI, and six runs scored during the week. He also stole two bases and held a .581 on-base percentage. He led the Texas League in on-base percentage and slugging percentage while helping Corpus Christi to a 5-2 record against Frisco, Springfield, and Tulsa.  
The Knoxville, Tenn. native recently put together the second-longest hitting streak in Hooks history, the longest in the Texas League this season.
His 23-game run lasted from April 29 to May 26. During the span, Ferguson batted .391 with 15 runs, five doubles, four home runs, 10 RBIs, and a .480 on-base percentage. Outfielder Jorge Cortes, who logged a 27-game hitting streak in 2006, holds the Corpus Christi franchise record.  
Ferguson and the Hooks begin a six-game road trip on Tuesday evening at Springfield. The club returns to Whataburger Field on Tuesday, June 6, for the start of a four-game series against Frisco.
