The 20-year-old Fernandez had a career night at the plate for the Indians, finishing 5-for-6 with two home runs, one triple, one double, three runs scored, and four RBI. His sixth-inning single completed Spokane's first cycle since Reggie Walton on June 29, 1979 (h/t Jim Price). The native of Havana, Cuba, has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games and is now slashing .342/.375/.658 in the month of May.
Juan Guerrero (3-for-6, HR, 3B, 2B) and AJ Lewis (3-for-5, HR, 2B, 1B) both fell just one hit short of joining Fernandez in the record books, while Adael Amador, Jordan Beck, and Zach Kokoska all added home runs in the win.
Right-hander Jaden Hill had his best outing of the season (3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K) while Cullen Kafka, Mason Green, and Anderson Bido combined for six scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
