(Reading, PA) - The Fightin Phils (23-34; 54-71) will end their 2024 home campaign this week in a six-game series against the Erie SeaWolves, (32-24, 70-53), the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.

Reading and Erie did not face off in 2023, and this is the first meeting between them since July 26-31, 2022, at Erie (Erie won series 5-1). It’s the first time the SeaWolves come to FirstEnergy Stadium since May 4-9, 2021 (Erie won series 4-2) to open the 2021 season.

The Fightins return home after a tough two-week road trip to Binghamton and Somerset where they went 3-9. Reading has played much better baseball at home this year, with a 33-30 record. On Saturday against Somerset, Moises Chace continued to impress on the mound, as he was dominant in his third Double-A start. After setting a then-career high with 10 strikeouts over 4.2 innings last week at Binghamton, he followed with a new career-high 13 strikeouts over a career-best six-innings pitched. His 13 strikeouts are the most by a Reading pitcher this season. Offensively, Ethan Wilson launched three-home runs in last week's series against the Patriots. Since August 1, Wilson is slugging .642 with seven home runs and 14 RBI. Marcus Lee Sang's bat is also heating up. Since August 13, he is slashing .304/.333/.522, with an .855 OPS. Lee Sang added seven runs, two doubles, one triple, two home runs and four RBI.

The SeaWolves come to Reading after taking four of six over Richmond, in second place in the Eastern League Southwest standings. Some standout stars in the Richmond series were Austin Murr and Gage Workman, who both produced walk-off hits on Friday and Sunday. Carlos Peña also turned in a scoreless start for Erie on Sunday as he threw five innings and allowed just two hits and a walk.

Top 30 Tigers prospects on the SeaWolves roster include: RHP Jackson Jobe, RHP Troy Melton, RHP Eric Silva and infielder, Hao-Yu Lee.

RHP Noah Skirrow gets the start for Reading on Tuesday, and he will go opposite RHP Austin Bergner. Reading's starter, RHP Christian McGowan and RHP Garrett Burhenn will match up on Wednesday. Thursday LHP Braeden Fausnaught will face RHP Jackson Jobe. On Friday, RHP Moises Chace will go opposite RHP Wilkel Hernandez and Saturday Eiberson Castellano will go against LHP Carlos Pena. In Sunday's finale, Skirrow and Bergner will face off for the second time.

On Tuesday, the first 1,000 fans will receive a Pride Night R-Phils Rainbow Pennant, presented by Kutztown University and LGBTQ+ Resource Center at Kutztown University. Wednesday is an Unused Ticket Game, thanks to Rip It Baseballtown Charities. Thursday is Tasting Festival on the Deck presented by Classic Harley-Davidson. Friday night features fireworks, thanks to Savage Auto Group. Saturday is a SpongeBob Celebration and Carpenter MEGA Blast Fireworks, sponsored by your local Kia Dealers.
