The Sea Dogs knocked Sanchez out of the game in the fifth inning, scoring five run to tie the game at six.
McAvoy allowed a career-high four homers on 10 hits and nine runs and suffered the loss.
Reading took the lead for good in the fifth, as they scored four runs in back-to-back innings.
