ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists hitters were ready to go on Monday night. Six of the nine players in the starting lineup hit a Home Run while Logan Cerny belted a pair in Asheville’s 19-3 win over the Greenville Drive. The seven Home Runs hit was a season-high as were the 19 runs scored.
Jacob Melton led off the first inning with a solo shot, his 14th of the season. Later in the frame, Kobe Kato ripped a two-run, two-out double to right-centerfield and Asheville led 3-0 after one. Cerny clubbed a two-run Home Run in the second inning and the Tourists extended their lead out to 5-0.
After Greenville plated one in the fourth and another in the fifth, Asheville’s hitters went back to work. Ryan Clifford led off the bottom of the fifth with an opposite field Home Run and Freudis Nova blew the game open with a Grand Slam.
The Tourists added five more runs in the sixth thanks to a two-run bomb by Ryan Wrobleski and a three-run Homer off the bat of Freddy Guilamo. In the eighth, Justin Williams drove in with an RBI single and Cerny capped the scoring with a three-run Home Run to left. All seven of the Tourists Homers traveled over 400 feet.
The pitching combination of Nic Swanson and Michael Knorr kept Greenville’s hitters tied up all game. Swanson went 4.2 innings in his Tourists debut and Knorr picked up the win by tossing the game’s final four frames.
Asheville has won two of their last three and heads to Bowling Green to take on the Hot Rods Tuesday night. The first pitch is set for 7:35pm ET.
