Manchester, N.H. - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) will transform into the "Gatos Feroces De New Hampshire" for four games during the 2019 season as part of Minor League Baseball's Copa De La Diversión (Fun Cup) initiative.
Joining 71 other teams across the country, the Fisher Cats will change their name and wear entirely new uniforms during a series of Copa De La Diversión games in 2019. Each night will celebrate the culture and values of Latinx communities with music, specialty food, pregame performances, themed fireworks and much more.
Gatos Feroces (GAH-toes fur-OH-seis) directly translates to "Ferocious Cats," a blend of the Fisher Cats and their brand of Ferocious Fun. The fanged feline depicted in the logo is an ode to the jaguar, which was prominently featured in Mesoamerican cultures like the Mayans, Aztecs and Olmecs. The background of the jersey includes the jaguar head, with a few "NH" inscriptions included in the surrounding pattern, which was inspired by the ancient designs of Mesoamerican civilization.

"Copa De La Diversión is such an important initiative, and we're proud to be a part of it," said Fisher Cats Diversity Outreach Coordinator Art Romero. "Baseball is embedded in Latinx culture, and the game wouldn't be the same without their contributions. Every Fisher Cats game is a blast at the ballpark, but these four games as the Gatos Fercoes will really be something special. You won't want to miss it."
Tickets are available now online at NHFisherCats.com/tickets, over the phone at (603) 641-2005 or at the Fisher Cats Box Office at One Line Drive in Manchester.
Debuting in 2018, Copa De La Diversión has grown from 33 teams to 72, as Minor League Baseball continues to connect with its Latinx communities and diverse fanbases across the country.
"The growth we're seeing in team participation for Copa is outstanding," said Kurt Hunzeker, Vice President of Marketing Strategy and Research for Minor League Baseball. "To see this authentic engagement with our Latinx fans in MiLB communities across the country is very exciting. We like to say that you don't attend a Minor League Baseball game, you feel it. To extend that feeling to a previously underserved fan base is remarkable."
