Winston-Salem finishes seven-game road trip with 4-3 record

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (May 31, 2018) - Bernardo Flores  registered his sixth consecutive quality start on Thursday night, tying a career-high with eight innings pitched to lead the Dash to a 3-2 win over Myrtle Beach in the series finale at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. 
Flores (4-3), the Carolina League leader in innings pitched, was efficient from the start, finishing with 99 pitches (71 strikes). The southpaw also never threw more than 17 pitches in an inning. He struck out five and did not walk a batter en route his eighth overall quality start on the season in 10 outings. Meanwhile, tonight's quality start is the Dash rotation's eighth in the last nine games.

Winston-Salem (29-25) plated a run against Myrtle Beach (24-29) starter Bailey Clark (1-2) in the second inning. After Zach Remillard led off the inning with a single, he moved to third on an error by the shortstop Aramis Ademan. Remillard scored on a double-play grounder to give the Dash an early 1-0 lead. 
After stranding the bases loaded in the bottom of the second inning, Flores allowed his lone run of the night in the third on back-to-back, two-out doubles from Jhonny Pereda and Wladimir Galindo. 
The Dash broke the tie in the fifth inning. Luis Basabe bashed a two-run double down the right-field line that bounce off the side facade of the stadium and kicked into shallow right field, allowing both Joel Booker and Mitch Roman to score.
Following Flores' phenomenal performance, Matt Foster came on in relief in the ninth inning and allowed a run on an two-out, RBI double from Connor Myers before securing the final out to earn his fourth save of the season.
Winston-Salem returns to BB&T Ballpark to begin a three-game series with the Carolina Mudcats on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Right-hander Jimmy Lambert (3-5, 3.65 ERA) goes for the Dash against Mudcats right-hander Conor Harber (1-2, 2.04 ERA). Friday's game against the Mudcats will be a Daddy Daughter Date Night, a $32 deal where fathers and daughters can take a picture on the field before the game while also receiving a free Dash picture frame. In addition to two tickets, you'll also receive two hotdog and drink vouchers, and two Dash hats. Meanwhile, Prince Tiana will be in attendance. Friday's contest will also features postgame fireworks.
Other promotions during the series with the Mudcats include a Chick-fil-A Four Pack Saturday and a Latin American Jersey Day on Sunday. The series finale with Carolina will also be a Lowes Foods Family Sunday, where children 12 and under will receive a free bag of popcorn.
