MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Toronto Blue Jays announced Friday that they have selected the contract of Davis Schneider, a former member of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate. Schneider has a chance to make his Major League debut this weekend at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox.

Schneider, 24, played in 46 games for the Fisher Cats last season, joining the team on June 25 after starting the year with High-A Vancouver. He had a .283 batting average and an .844 OPS with 17 extra-base hits, including six home runs. Schneider also stole 10 bases and drove in 22 runs, and he was promoted to Triple-A Buffalo on September 8. He was named a MiLB.com Blue Jays Organization All-Star following the season.

In 87 games with Buffalo this year, Schneider posted career-highs in home runs (21), RBIs (64), batting average (.275), OPS (.969), and walks (72). He hit .348 in July with a 1.265 OPS, six home runs, 13 extra-base hits, and 21 RBIs.

The New Jersey native was selected by the Blue Jays in the 28th round of the 2017 MLB Draft out of Eastern Regional High School (Voorhees, N.J.). Schneider is the No. 28 prospect in the Blue Jays organization, according to MLB.com.

Schneider has an opportunity to be the 155th player to make his Major League debut after spending time with the Fisher Cats and the fourth former player to reach the Majors for the first time this year, following Samad Taylor, Spencer Horwitz, and Forrest Wall.

Wall was the most recent to debut on July 22, and he has appeared in two games as a pinch runner for the Atlanta Braves. He stole second and third on consecutive pitches in his first MLB game. Wall was a member of the 2018 Eastern League Championship team and played in 144 games for the Fisher Cats from 2018-19. His two-run single in the 10th led the Fisher Cats to a 3-1 win over Akron in Game 1 of the Championship Series.

The Fisher Cats continue a six-game road series against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies Friday at 7:05 p.m. and return home for a six-game series against the Reading Fightin Phils Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.

The Fisher Cats play regular-season home games at Delta Dental Stadium through Sunday, September 17. Season ticket memberships, mini-plans, and single-game tickets are available at NHFisherCats.com, via email at [email protected], by phone at (603) 641-2005, and in-person at the Fisher Cats box office on 1 Line Drive in Manchester.
