The Palm Beach Cardinals and Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium have exciting guests to present this Thursday night!

Former NFL star and current cornhole champion Terry Kirby, as well as his cornhole partner Rosie Streker, will be “tossing-out” the ceremonial first pitches on June 23 prior to the start of our St. Lucie Mets and Palm Beach Cardinals, 6:30 pm Florida State League game at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium!

A native of Hampton, Va., Kirby played for the University of Virginia, and left the program in 1992 as the Cavaliers all-time leader in rushing yards. A third-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 1993, he spent 10 years in the NFL, with stints with the Dolphins, 49ers, Browns, and Raiders. Over his career, Kirby accumulated 2,875 rushing yards, 3,222 receiving yards and 43 total touchdowns.

Kirby may have hung out his football cleats after 2002, but since then, the 52-year-old has picked up the bean bags and made a career out of cornhole. Him and Streker are members of the USA Cornhole National team and winners of the 2022 Superhole Preliminaries!

On Thursday, we will have the duo here to honor them, and to wish them luck as they set out to compete at the American Cornhole League Superhole Championships in August!

It comes as no surprise that Kirby, the two-sport phenom, comes from an athletic pedigree. His brother, Wayne Kirby, played eight Major League Baseball seasons for the Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Dodgers, and New York Mets. Wayne Kirby currently serves as the first base coach for the Mets, the parent organization of Palm Beach’s Thursday opponent, the St. Lucie Mets.

Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium gates open at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, with game time slated for 6:30 p.m. After their First Pitches, Kirby and Streker will both be signing autographs in the concourse from 6:45 p.m. to 7 p.m.
