Bridgewater, New Jersey- Infielder Hoy Park, who began his 2021 season with the Somerset Patriots, has signed a Major League contract with the New York Yankees and has been selected to their 26-man roster, the team announced Friday afternoon.
Park becomes the second Patriot this season to make it to the Major Leagues after playing in Somerset. Estevan Florial began his season in Somerset and was recalled to the Bronx Bombers on May 27th.
The 25-year-old infielder played in 10 games with Somerset to begin the season where he hit .194 with one home run, three RBI and three stolen bases. Park was transferred to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes/Barre on May 18th along with Brandon Wagner and Thomas Milone.
Park has adjusted comfortably to the Triple-A level. He currently leads the Triple-A East in on-base percentage (.475), OPS (1.017), and walks (43), while ranking fourth in batting (.325). Additionally, he is tied for the lead in walks, second in OBP, and fourth in OPS among all qualified Triple-A batters this season. Park also enjoyed a 30-game on-base streak with the Railriders stretching from May 26th to July 7th.
