Four Knocks for Wiel, Miracle Win Rubber Match in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (July 6, 2017) - Zander Wiel supplied four hits and Jaylin Davis launched his first FSL home run in the Fort Myers Miracle's (9-4) 8-3 win over the Tampa Yankees (8-5). LHP Lewis Thorpe (W, 2-2) tossed a season high 5.2 innings to earn his second win of the year.
The Miracle grabbed the game's first run when Nelson Molina provided the first of his two RBIs. After Tanner English stole second and third in the top of the third, Molina drove him in with a single.
The top of the fourth is when Fort Myers made their move. With one out, six straight Miracle hitters reached against starter RHP Brian Keller (L, 0-1). Davis boomed his first Miracle home run to right-center to give Fort Myers a 3-0 lead. After two singles and a walk, Sean Miller provided an RBI-single and Molina grounded to first to plate Shane Kennedy.
Thorpe struggled with his control, walking a season high four batters, but worked around hits to keep the Yankees off the board early. Back-to-back doubles in the fourth by Alex Palma and Tim Lynch scored the Yankees' first run. In the sixth after a Nick Solak walk, Trey Amburgey lifted his 11^th home run of the year out to left, cutting the Fort Myers lead to two.
The Miracle pulled away late when English and Miller provided run-scoring singles on the eighth. The knocks gave them an 8-3 lead, while LHP Andrew Vasquez and RHP Tom Hackimer shut down the Yankee offense.
The Miracle Welcome the Palm Beach Cardinals to Hammond Stadium on Friday night with first pitch at 7:05 PM ET.
