(Niles, OH)-The Mahoning Valley Scrappers had a nice bounce back win one day after losing just their second game of the season. The Scrappers sent 10 batters to the plate and scored four runs in the bottom of the second to take control on the way to a 6-2 win over the Williamsport Crosscutters on Monday night.
After Williamsport got on the board first in the top of the second, the Scrappers stormed back.
Mahoning Valley would add insurance runs in the third and sixth innings. Jason Rodriguez connected on a solo homerun in the third while a Williamsport error would get the final run of the game on the board for Mahoning Valley in the sixth.
Zach Draper (1-0) started and earned the win with 5.0 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits. Draper walked 1 and struck out 2.
The Scrappers (8-21) will go for their fourth straight series win to open the season on Tuesday night.
