Matt Fraizer launched a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the tenth inning to send the Curve to a 7-5 win over New Hampshire on Friday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Altoona earned their eighth walk-off win of the season and clinched a series victory over the Fisher Cats, their first since July 30 – August 4 against the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

After New Hampshire quickly went ahead in the top of the tenth inning against Grant Ford, but the Curve used a wild pitch and a walk to put men at the corners with one out when Fraizer lifted a high fly ball down the right field line off Anders Tolhurst to earn the win.

The Curve earned a walk-off win for the second consecutive game in their series with New Hampshire, just the eighth time in franchise history that the team has won in that manner in back-to-back games. Altoona’s eighth walk-off win of the season puts them within striking distance of the franchise record for walk-off wins in a season, set in 2005 when the Curve earned ten walk-off wins.

Altoona built a 4-0 lead behind a brilliant start from Po-Yu Chen who tossed five scoreless innings on Friday night. Chen began his outing without allowing a baserunner through four innings and surrendered his first baserunner on a clean single in the fifth.

Sammy Siani got the scoring started for the Curve with a solo homer in the second inning, his fifth in an Altoona uniform. The Curve added three runs in the seventh inning before New Hampshire drew even with four runs of their own in the eighth inning.

Drake Fellows tossed 2.2 innings of relief and earned three strikeouts. Curve pitching combined for 11 strikeouts in the victory.

Altoona continues their series with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, on Saturday night. LHP Anthony Solometo is slated to start the game for Altoona, with RHP Abdiel Mendoza slated to start for the Fisher Cats.
