Reyes stating presence in Missions lineup

When Franmil Reyes gets locked in like Tuesday night, his contributions at the plate tend to directly reflect upon his team's success.
The San Diego outfield prospect homered twice and tied his career high with six RBIs to power Double-A San Antonio to an 11-5 victory over Tulsa at ONEOK Field. He also doubled and walked twice, reaching safely in all five plate appearances.

"He provides a presence in the lineup where he's going to make the hitters around him better," Missions hitting coach Lance Burkhart said. "He's a smart hitter. He prepares the right way and he's seeing the ball well right now."
The 21-year-old wasted no time flexing his power as he took an 0-1 offering from Drillers righty Isaac Anderson over the fence in right-center field for a two-run shot in the first inning.
"He's got some strength and he works on that in batting practice," Burkhart said. "When he's seeing the ball well, he uses the whole field. He's got enough power to go out anywhere when he stays pretty compact and direct to the ball."
Reyes drew a five-pitch walk in the third and gave the Missions a 4-1 lead in the fifth with an RBI single to center before walking again in a four-run sixth.
"He's just staying in the strike zone," Burkhart said. "When the guy is staying in the zone and makes the pitchers come to him and bring the ball up in the zone, that's a benefit. But that goes for anybody. When you're staying in the strike zone and swinging at good pitches to hit, you're going to have some success."

Facing righty reliever Yaisel Sierra in the eighth, Reyes launched a three-run shot to right for his fourth homer in six games. He also went deep in Sunday's contest and drove in three runs.
Reyes previously amassed multi-homer games for Reyes last June 25 and Aug. 3 with Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore in the California League. On Sept. 1, 2015, he accomplished the feat for the first time for Class A Fort Wayne. But Burkhart said he and his players don't get "caught up" in performances like that.
"These guys are one-track-minded on what they have to do every night. I think that's a benefit to what they do and how they go about their business," Burkhart said.

Padres fourth-ranked prospectLuis Urías and Nick Torres had two hits apiece to supplement the San Antonio offense, while Brett Kennedy (4-3) picked up the win, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out seven over five innings.
