G-Reds Fall 4-2 in Extras

GREENEVILLE, TN - The Elizabethton Twins (7-5) capped off a three game sweep of the Greeneville Reds (5-7) with a ten inning, 4-2 victory Sunday night at Pioneer Park. The G-Reds had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the tenth, but Garrett Wolforth grounded out to first with the bases loaded to end the game. The game started after a 1:28 minute rain delay.
Elizabethton scored first in the third. Alex Isola led off the inning with a double off RHP Orlando Noriega, and scored on Charles Mack's two-out RBI-single.
After RHP Cody Laweryson retired the first nine Reds hitters he faced, Reyny Reyes led off the fourth with a triple off RHP Tyler Benninghoff. After the triple, E-Twins pitching retired 15 straight G-Reds hitters.
Raul Juarez led off the ninth with a double, and moved to third on Wolforth's sacrifice bunt. With two-outs, Juarez scored the tying run on Peterson Plaz's RBI-infield single.
The Twins scored three off RHP Raul Wallace (L, 0-1) in the tenth. Mack began the inning on second, Wallace walked Seth Gray, and hit Matt Wallner with one-out to load the bases. Mack scored the go-ahead run on Anthony Prato's sacrifice fly to right. Gray tagged and moved to third, then scored on Wallace's wild pitch. Wallner moved to second on the wild pitch, and scored on Isola's RBI-single.
Danielito Remy began the tenth at second for Greeneville, and moved to third on Mike Spooner's infield single. Remy scored on Robert Boselli's RBI-single. After RHP Dylan Thomas (S, 1) recorded the first two outs, Juarez extended the game with a single to left. Wolforth came up, and grounded out to first to end the game.
RHP Nate Hadley (W, 1-0) picked up the win in relief. He allowed a run on two hits over two innings with three strikeouts. Wallace went 0.2 innings, allowed three runs (two earned) on two walks and a hit, and suffered the loss. Thomas picked up his first professional save by recording the final three outs.
Noriega allowed just one run on five hits and a walk over 4.1 innings. He also struck out a season-high six. RHP Anthony Zimmerman and LHP Andy Fisher both worked 2.1 scoreless innings. Zimmerman walked one and struck out four, while Fisher allowed a hit and struck out three. G-Reds pitching matched a season-high with 14 strikeouts, they finished the series with 41 strikeouts.
The G-Reds will head to Johnson City Monday to begin a three game series with the Cardinals at TVA Credit Union Ballpark. RHP Juan Abril (0-1, 9.45) will start for Greeneville. Johnson City will counter with RHP Francisco Justo (1-0, 0.79).
