Galloway clubbed a Minor League Baseball weekly-best five home runs, all coming in his final three games at Reno. On May 11, he hit two home runs and had three hits and three RBI in total. He added another homer two days later, part of a two-hit, four-RBI effort. Galloway capped his power surge with his third career multi-homer game, hitting two solo shots and scoring a season-best three runs, in a May 14 win. Prior to this weekend, Galloway's only career two-homer game came nearly six years ago on July 12, 2011 with Single-A Greensboro. The California native is one of only four PCL players this year to have a pair of two-homer games.
In five games, Galloway hit .417 (10-for-24), pacing Triple-A Baseball with 25 total bases. He also drove in 10 runs, scored eight, while slugging 1.042 with a .462 on-base percentage for a 1.503 OPS. The 27-year-old had hits in all five contests and finished the week with four consecutive games of two or more hits.
Galloway has been in the Marlins organization for his entire 10-year career after being selected by Florida in the eighth round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga. He has spent parts of each of the last three seasons in New Orleans, hitting .255 (242-for-950) with 24 home runs and 96 RBI in 275 games. He has previously been honored as a 2013 midseason Florida State League All-Star with Jupiter. This is his first career Player of the Week award.
In a May 8 win against New Orleans, Weber tossed a season-high seven shutout innings, allowing only three hits and a walk with three strikeouts. He retired 14 of the first 15 hitters, got 14 outs via ground balls, and threw 57 of his 89 pitches for strikes. Later in the week, Weber had his contract selected by the Mariners to make a start against the Blue Jays in Toronto; he allowed one run in 3.2 innings before leaving with a shoulder injury.
With Tacoma this year, Weber has allowed only three runs in 31.2 innings in six appearances (five starts). His 0.85 ERA leads the PCL, as does his 0.76 WHIP. Opponents have hit just .180 off Weber (20-for-111), the third lowest mark among PCL pitchers.
The St. Petersburg, Florida native is in his first year in the Mariners organization after being claimed off waviers from Atlanta in November. He spent the first eight years of his career in the Braves organization after being selected by Atlanta in the 22nd round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. The 26-year-old appeared in the majors in 2015 and 2016, going 1-4 with a 5.15 ERA (64.2 IP, 37 ER) in 21 games (7 starts). This is his first career Player of the Week award.
