WORCESTER, M.A. — The Rochester Red Wings (51-61) took the series opener against the Worcester Red Sox (56-56) on Tuesday night, a 4-1 final score at Polar Park in front of 7,449.
For the first time since May 13, WooSox starter Brian Keller allowed more than three runs in an outing. In the first, Rochester pushed across a pair of runs on an RBI single from Daniel Johnson and a sac-fly by Jake Alu. Two innings later, Johnson smacked a run-scoring double, and Alu followed with his second sac-fly of the night to make it 4-0 Red Wings.
Keller finished the night with the following line: 5 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, and despite the loss, still holds an International League-best 1.92 ERA since June 2.
Matt Strahm made a rehab appearance for Worcester in the sixth, tossing a 14-pitch 1-2-3 inning. The left-hander reached 94 miles-per-hour with his fastball, and notched a flyout, a broken bat groundout and a looking strikeout.
Offensively, the WooSox doubled four times in the ballgame—two from Connor Wong, one by Ronaldo Hernandez and one off the bat of Ryan Fitzgerald. Hernandez’ came in the third and drove home Wong to cut the deficit to 4-1.

Worcester brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the eighth, but Mason Thompson induced a Pedro Castellanos groundout to end the threat.
In relief, Caleb Simpson, Durbin Feltman and Kaleb Ort delivered runless innings in the seventh eighth and ninth innings, respectively.
