(Pittsfield, MA) -- The Norwich Sea Unicorns fell to the Pittsfield Suns on the road in both ends of a doubleheader 6-4 and 15-1 Sunday afternoon.
Down 5-0 after three in game one, the Sea Unicorns cut their deficit with a three-run fourth. Jack Blake (Westfield, MA/Eastern CT State University) delivered a two-run single, followed by a run-scoring error on a groundball put in play by Michael Torniero (East Haven, CT/Central CT State University). Hunter Yaworksi (Brooklyn, CT/Mitchell College) made it a one-run game with an RBI double to center in the sixth, but the Suns added an insurance run in the home half to put the game away.
Owen Caldwell (Wakefield, RI/Lasell University) went three innings, giving up one hit and one earned run. Blake, Yaworski, and Ian Battipaglia (Chesire, CT/Franklin Pierce University) each had two hits.
In game two, Battipaglia also had two hits with a walk. Eddie Kaftan (Old Lyme, CT/Mitchell College) and Peter Phillips (Simsbury, CT/Southern CT State University) combined for 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
The Sea Unicorns return home to Dodd Stadium to host the Nashua Silver Knights Tuesday, August 3 at 7:00 pm. Every Tuesday at Dodd Stadium is Dollar Dog Night, with $1 dollar hot dogs all game long.
