Hawks to recognize local hero

August 8, 2006
BOISE, Idaho -- The Boise Hawks are teaming with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho to recognize local hero Patrick Wiese. Weise recently won a national honor from the Heroes In Our Midst Program sponsored by the Greeting Card Association.

Wednesday, August 9 will be "Heroes In Our Midst Night" at Memorial Stadium. Patrick will be honored in a pre-game ceremony. We're asking fans to bring cards or notes of thanks for our community hero. We want to honor and connect with our community hero by showering him with cards during an on-field presentation to name him a national hero.

Patrick is a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sister of Southwest Idaho and has made an impact in the life of his Little Brother, Brennan. Patrick has been a great support for Brennan, as he pursued sports and drama in school. As a result of this mentoring friendship, Brennan's grades improved, he has graduated from high school and is moving to Washington with plans for college in the near future.

One card will be chosen from the thousands of cards for Patrick, and it will be read aloud to him on the field. The fan whose card is chosen will receive four free tickets to a Boise Hawks game.

The Hawks are in their 20th Anniversary Season of Northwest League play. The club has won six NWL Championships, the most recent banner coming in 2004. Season, mini-pack, and single game tickets for Hawks' games are available at (208) 322-5000. For more information, please visit www.boisehawks.com. This is My HawksNation!
