Machado named to 2015 IL All-Star Team
Toledo Mud Hens shortstop Dixon Machado has been named to the 2015 International League postseason All-Star Team. He was also a mid-season All-Star, and becomes the first Hens shortstop on the IL postseason All-Star Team since Brent Dlugach in 2009.
Machado is in his first season playing above the Double-A level. He made his MLB debut on May 25 with the Detroit Tigers. Machado has spent most of the season batting in the first two spots of the Mud Hens order, where he has led the team in hits and runs scored.
The 23-year-old Venezuelan was signed by the Detroit Tigers as an amateur free agent in 2008. Last season, he hit .305 with 5 home runs and 32 RBI, with a .965 fielding percentage in 90 games with Double-A Erie. He also appeared in 41 games with Class-A Advanced Lakeland, hitting .252 with 1 home run and 8 RBI, with a .972 fielding percentage.
