Osprey Alumni Update - roster moves
That addition came in the form of outfielder Adam Eaton. The 2010 Osprey alum, who holds the club record for best batting average in a single-season and career (.385), was called up to big-league camp on Friday, and made an appearance in the outfield on Saturday.
Eaton will be among several players who will be called up to Major League camp to help fill out rosters, especially during split-squad games. Arizona has three split-squad dates left on its Cactus League schedule.
In another move, several former Osprey who were in Major League camp were either assigned to their 2011 minor-league teams or assigned to minor-league camp.
Right-handed pitcher Yonata Ortega (2007) and catcher Rossmel Perez (2007) were both assigned to Class A Advanced Visalia; and left-handed pitcher Clay Zavada (2006) was assigned to Triple-A Reno. Four other former Osprey were reassigned to minor-league camp - right-handed pitchers Jarrod Parker (2007) and Daniel Stange (2006); and infielders Paul Goldschmidt (2009) and Chris Owings (2009).
