PawSox Pri
With the Rhode Island Presidential Preference Primary looming on April 26, McCoy Stadium itself will get into the political spirit and host the first-ever "PawSox Primary" before and during the team's upcoming game versus Lehigh Valley on Saturday, April 23 (1:05 pm first pitch). Supporters of different candidates will be encouraged to sit in sections corresponding to the various campaigns, while pre-game and in-game entertainment will also showcase this year's political theme. Among the highlights will be a footrace by the five "candidates," similar to the historical presidents' race at Washington Nationals games.
Fans holding tickets to that afternoon's game will be able to use their original tickets, or sit in sections that correspond to specific candidates. Senator Ted Cruz's supporters are encouraged to sit in Sections 1 and 2 (the far right side of the seating bowl); Donald Trump's disciples will try to make Sections 3 and 4 great again; Governor John Kasich's acolytes will sit in Sections 5 and 6, close to the center; Sections 7 and 8 will serve as zones for those who are undecided but "still in the game;" Sections 9 and 10 will host supporters of Secretary Hillary Clinton; further down the left-field line, Sections 11 and 12 will be Senator Bernie Sanders' territory; and Sections 13, 14, and 15 will be an area for those who are dissatisfied and fed up with the political scene.
Fans who have box seats for one specific section but wish to sit in another are encouraged to use the red box seat area of that other section, while those with general admission tickets can move to another G.A. area if they so choose. Season-ticket holders and mini-plan holders in the green seating sections will still be able to use their original seats.
Other patriotic attractions will abound on the 23rd, including a presidential candidates' footrace featuring characters bearing oversized novelty heads. Various other surprises are in store, as PawSox fans rock the vote and turn out for what's sure to be a memorable afternoon of hardball politics.
