Round Rock Express and RBI Austin Team Up for Fourth Annual "Triple-A for a Day"

Express to bring Dell Diamond's Game Atmosphere to Austin Baseball Nonprofit
July 31, 2016

ROUND ROCK, Texas - For the fourth year in a row, the Round Rock Express are set to team up with RBI Austin to present "Triple-A for a Day," bringing Dell Diamond's one-of-a-kind atmosphere to RBI Austin's 14U softball and 12U baseball championships.

The pair of games will be held on Saturday, August 6 at Downs Mabson Field in East Austin. The 14U softball game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. while the 12U baseball game will follow at 8:00 p.m. RBI Austin will recognize league MVPs and other award winners during Closing Ceremonies between the two contests, complete with special guest Austin Mayor Steve Adler. Triple-A for a Day is open to the public and free to attend. All are invited to enjoy the festivities.

In an effort to replicate the game atmosphere at Dell Diamond, the Express will bring many fan favorites to Mabson Field, including "the fastest chickens in Texas," rowdy time and much more. Olympian and four-time All-American athlete Cat Osterman is set to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

For the first time in the event's history, Triple-A for a Day will be included as an official MLB Play Ball function. Play Ball is a nationwide partnership between Major League Baseball and USA Baseball to encourage everyone to get out and play.

The Express hope this game will provide RBI Austin athletes, their families and the community with the opportunity to watch baseball in a fun and unique setting they would not normally experience. "We are so excited to continue the Triple-A for a Day program in 2016. To be able to offer an once-in-a-lifetime, big-league experience to the RBI athletes and their families is special for us," Round Rock Express General Manager Tim Jackson said. "What RBI Austin has developed over the last five years has been truly amazing. From their mentor programs to their passion for the game of baseball, the impact they're making in Austin will be long lasting and we are proud to be part of it."
