Ryan Cordell traded to Milwaukee Brewers

Riders outfielder joins Brinson, Ortiz as part of Lucroy deal
September 5, 2016

FRISCO, TEXAS (September 5, 2016) - The Texas Rangers announced Monday that Frisco RoughRiders outfielder Ryan Cordell has been traded to the Milwaukee Brewers as the player to be named later in the deal that sent Jonathan Lucroy to the Rangers in August.

The trade, made on August 1, also sent former Riders Lewis Brinson and Luis Ortiz to the Brewers organization in exchange for Lucroy and right-handed pitcher Jeremy Jeffress.

Cordell, 24, had a standout season for the RoughRiders before an injury sidelined him for the final month of the campaign. In 107 games, the righty swinger hit .264 with a team-leading 19 home runs and 70 RBI. Cordell was named a Texas League Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star, in addition to Texas League and Rangers Minor League Player of the Month in April.

The Rangers selected Cordell in the 11th round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of Liberty University.

Frisco rounds out the 2016 season this afternoon at Dr Pepper Ballpark, taking on the Midland RockHounds at 4:05 p.m. For tickets to today's game and information on tickets for the 2017 season, fans can visit RidersBaseball.com, email [email protected], call (972) 731-9200, or stop by in-person to the RoughRiders Ticket Office.
