Rondon Pitcher, Feliciano Manager of the Year For NWL
Eugene, OR - Pitchers, Dylan Cease and Manuel Rondon, and manager, Jesus Feliciano, have been named to the Northwest League 2016 Year-End All-Star Team. Rondon was selected as Pitcher of the Year and Feliciano was named Manager of the Year.
Rondon finished the regular season with a 1.10 ERA, 49 strikeouts and a 6-1 record over 12 starts and 57.1 innings. He finished with one of the best ERAs and WHIP (Walk plus hits divided by innings pitched) in the league as well as finishing second in wins. Every time Rondon took the mound he gave the Emeralds a chance to win. His tenacity on the mound, helped lead the Emeralds to one of their best finishes of all time.
Cease, who is one of the top prospects in the Cubs organization, capped off his season by striking out ten batters over five innings on September 5. It was a typical start for the flamethrower, who finished 11 strikeouts away from leading the league. The league leader had nearly 30 more innings than Cease. Cease finished the year with a 2.22 ERA, 66 strikouts and a 2-0 record over 12 starts and 44.2 innings pitched.
Rookie manager, Feliciano, was able to inspire his team to the best record in the Northwest League. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Feliciano in the 36 round in 1997. He made the Major League roster for the New York Mets in 2010. Feliciano got his first coaching job as the hitting coach in the Chicago Cubs minor league system in 2014.
